• What is professional coaching?

The International Coach Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.”

  • Who is a good candidate for coaching?

    • Executives, mid-level managers or work teams seeking leadership development
    • High potential professionals interested in transitioning to a new role or who want to more strategically manage their career
    • Entrepreneurs or business owners focused on strategic growth
    • Individuals seeking a better work/life balance
    • Recent graduates/MBAs navigating life after school
    • Anyone who lacks clarity about his or her life’s purpose
  • What is the coaching process?

In general, coaching entails the following 5 stages:

    1. Discover and define what you want to achieve
    2. Assess your strengths, weaknesses, passions and aspirations
    3. Establish clear, specific goals
    4. Create a plan of action for achieving those goals with milestones along the way
    5. Be accountable for executing a plan and achieving favorable outcomes
  • How is coaching delivered?

Coaching may be done in person, by phone, or video conference depending on your location.  Although I’m based in Orlando, Florida, I work with clients in multiple geographies and others who travel extensively for work.  Coaching can be done in whatever manner is best for you.

  • How long is a coaching engagement?

Corporate coaching is based on the needs of each organization, but often includes 360 feedback, assessments, development plan and measures for success for a period of 6 months.

Career coaching for individuals is usually done over 4 months by phone, Skype, or in-person.  Factors that will impact the length include your coaching goals, frequency of meetings and financial considerations. Please contact Sindy Cassidy for a complimentary 30-minute session and quote.

  • How effective is coaching? Can’t I just read a self-help book or two?

Reading and online resources can be a great source of knowledge, however sustained change involves personal insight, time, a commitment to take action and accountability.  Coaching incorporates all of these factors to create meaningful results.

  • How much does coaching cost?

Each coaching engagement is unique. Fees are based on type and length. Please contact me for a complimentary session and quote.

  • Can you describe some typical scenarios for someone who might consider coaching?

    • You’re successful but want to become even more effective
    • You have management potential and want to develop your leadership skills
    • You want to improve your executive presence, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, team effectiveness or communication skills
    • Something urgent, compelling or exciting is at stake (promotion, onboarding, challenge/opportunity)
    • You lack clarity around career choices and decisions, asking what’s next
    • You want to identify your core strengths and determine how best to leverage them
    • Your work and life are not aligned in a successful way, creating unfavorable consequences
  • How is coaching distinct from consulting, therapy, or mentoring?

Professional coaching focuses on the future, setting goals, creating outcomes and managing personal change.  It differs from other support professions as outlined below:

    • Consulting: Individuals or organizations retain consultants for their expertise. With coaching, the assumption is that you’re capable of generating your own solutions, with the coach supplying guidance and support.
    • Therapy: Therapy deals with healing pain, dysfunction and conflict. Coaching is focused on creating actionable strategies for achieving specific goals in your work or personal life.
    • Mentoring: A mentor is an expert who provides wisdom and advice based on his or her own experience. The coaching process does not include advising. Instead you’re encouraged to set and achieve your own objectives.
  • I’m interested in exploring working with a coach. What’s the next step?

I offer a no-obligation, 30-minute consultation to answer your questions and discuss how a coaching engagement might benefit you.
